The X-Men franchise could mutate into a new television series.

Fox Executives Gary Newman and Dana Walden confirm they’re into talks to develop an X-Men television series spinning off the popular film franchise according to TV Insider.

Twentieth Century Fox controls the film rights to the X-Men. Marvel controls the right to the comic characters which is part of Disney. According to the story Fox would need Disney/Marvel’s approval to move ahead with a television series.

“It’s in negotiations,” Newman said. “We’re cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative.” Continue reading FOX Plans X-MEN Television Series

OSCAR ISAAC On Creating X-MEN APOCALYPSE

Oscar Isaac is revealing more news about his transformation into one of the most fearsome X-Men villains.

Isaac said Apocalypse “will bring the X-Men to their knees” but how will the acclaimed actor and director Bryan Singer create the bad guy’s look and powers?

“It’ll be a mix [of practical and digital]. I haven’t had a script so I haven’t had a chance to look through the script and see what the exact requirements are, but I think it’ll be a mixture of physical, aided with some robotic technology,” Isaac told Yahoo Movies. YOUNG CYCLOPS, JEAN GREY & STORM in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Three young actors have been cast as three of the most iconic mutants in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Director Bryan Singer revealed Alexandra Shipp will play Ororo Munroe (aka Storm) Sophie Turner will be Jean Grey and Tye Sheridan will portray Scott Summers (aka Cyclops) via Twitter.

The new film will be set in the 1980’s with James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence returning as Professor Xavier, Magneto and Mystique. Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine.

Who are the Utopians in All-New X-Men #40 ?

The tease for the next arc (after The Black Vortex crossover) by Brian Michael Bendis has us intrigued and reminiscing about the recent past.

Utopia was the island nation Cyclops established off the coast of San Francisco but destroyed by the Phoenix Five in Avengers vs. X-Men.

All-New X-Men #40 (in Marvel‘s April previews) asked “Who are the Utopians?” and “what secret do they hold that pertains to the future of mutantkind?”

This blast from recent past may affect the future of the Children of the Atom.

Cyclops created a bright new future for the X-Men in San Fransisco. Then Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign began.  Osborn ordered his Dark Avengers and H.A.M.M.E.R. It’s part of why writer Chris Yost brought the Russian X-Man of steel back into the fold in part.

Colossus and Jugernaut were both avatars of the demon Cyttorak.

A Seattle writer’s comic book success keeps soaring as she takes on one of the most famous teams in comics.

G. Willow Wilson launched a brand new Ms. Marvel to critical acclaim and sales success in 2014.  The book was named the number one series of 2014 by Comic Book Resources.

Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel’s real name) was the first Muslim character to to lead their own mainstream comic book. Wilson is now a Marvel exclusive creator and writing the all-female X-Men book.

X-Men #23 arrives in comic shops this week. The Burning World is the name of Wilson’s first arc as Storm, Psylocke, Rachel Grey and Monet investigate a mysterious event at a “Burning Man” style concert.
