The All-New Inhumans are coming. Hints of Marvel’s next big crossover event are being dropped. Are armies of Inhumans and X-Men assembling for what might be a genetic war in 2016?
Crystal will take command of a new squad in a book by Charles Soule, James Asmus and Stefano Caselli. This “sister” book starring Queen Medusa’s sister is part of making the outsiders an even bigger part of the new Marvel.
Asmus teased that this book will sow seeds for some huge events (like a Gene War?) coming up.
“We’re definitely directly building to at least two big, big things that will affect the nature of the wider Marvel Universe as well characters near and far outside of the Inhumans.”
Soule hinted at bigger ties not just between the Inhumans books, but with another section of the Marvel Universe:
“The Inhuman corner of the Marvel Universe is a pretty cool place, especially once you bring in books like Ms. Marvel and Karnak,” Soule points out.
“They’re all part of a larger picture, and they’re all connected in large and small ways. Similarly, the Inhumans are part of the huge tapestry that is the Marvel Universe, and we’ll see all the threads getting woven together as we move into 2016. I know there are some really cool stories coming up with respect to the X-Men, for one thing…”
Marvel revealed Beast will join the cast of Uncanny Inhumans this Fall as a cold war heats up between mutants and Inhumans connected to the Terrigen Cloud. Cyclops are other key X-Men will vanish. Storm will assemble a team of Extraordinary X-Men, Magneto leads a pro-active squad of Uncanny X-Men while X-23 (soon to be the All-New Wolverine) and the young X-Men become the All-New X-Men on the run.
It appears Terrigenesis is not only affecting humans with Inhuman DNA and creating NuHumans and but will affect mutant genes.
As Inhumanity spread, the government and public will be looking for a guilty party. Will mutants be blamed for the outbreak of NuHumans since they’re so similar to mutants?
Will Storm, Magneto and other powerful mutants hold Black Bolt and Medusa responsible for unleashing Terrigenesis and its impact on mutants?
The All-New, All-Different Marvel Now launches in November and set 8 months after the Secret Wars finale. Marvel is always readying for the next big crossover event. The X-Men have always been fan-favorites but the Inhumans are coming on strong and clearly important to the future of Marvel comics, television and movie studios. Could a gene war be that big event for 2016?
