Who is that?!

Even this lifelong X-Fan was scratching my head with this week’s Death of X #3 as a minor character the past is recruited by Cyclops for a big league return and will play a huge role in the upcoming war between the X-Men and Inhumans.

Death of X is revealing the origin of the IvX conflict, the fate of Cyclops and Emma Frost and more of what happened in the eight months following the Secret Wars finale and All-New, All-Different Marvel Now Extraordinary X-Men launch.

The four-part series by Charles Soule, Jeff Lemire and Aaron Kuder already featured the return of several missing in action mutants and the death of a fan-favorite. Along with Cyclops and Emma Frost we have witnessed the return of mutants from multiple eras including Wolfsbane, Warpath, Goldballs and the Stepford Cuckoos.

In part three Cyclops recruits a character not seen in decades for his master plan to save the mutant race. Who is this mutant? Continue reading DEATH OF X Surprise X-MEN Comeback

X-Men are switching sides in Civil War II and paving the way for the return of a mutant powerhouse missing in action since the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now began.

Terrigenesis that creates new Inhumans is killing mutants. The X-Men/Inhumans cold war is set to explode. The emergence of a new Inhuman with the power to see the future has bitterly divided the Avengers and now the X-Men.

Writer Cullen Bunn packed Civil War II: X-Men #2 with betrayals, secret missions and a big hint that a lost X-Man is making a big comeback. Continue reading X-MEN SWITCH SIDES And MUTANT COMEBACK in CIVIL WAR II

Magneto is about to do it again…lighting a fuse that will ignite huge new drama for the X-Men.

Tensions are high between Inhumans and mutants. The Terrigen Mists creating new Inhumans are killing mutants. Magneto is leading a pro-active squad of Uncanny X-Men in the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now. Storm’s Extraordinary X-Men team are trying to rescue as many mutants as they can. Beast is working with Medusa in Uncanny Inhumans. Cyclops is believed to be dead after an attack on the Inhumans.

The cold war between the rival races flares up in midst of Civil War II. Iron Man and Captain Marvel are at odds over the emergence of Ulysses, a new Inhuman with the power to predict the future. A classic hero is dead and an Avenger is clinging to life after the Ultimates use of the Inhuman’s power backfired in a tragic way.

In Civil War II: X-Men #1 by Cullen Bunn, the mutant teams learn of Ulysses. The Master of Magnetism sees this powerful new man as a new threat tipping the scales in favor of Inhumans. Magneto will make a move on the Inhumans, Storm’s Extraordinary X-Men will attempt to stop him and a genetic war is on. Continue reading MAGNETO’S Biggest X-MEN Moments

Marvel revealed an ominous teaser via Twitter that sends a chill into the hearts of X-Fans:

The “Death of X” coming Fall 2016.

No official word on if this is an event, new book or story arc featuring what we assume is the X-Men.

Things are already bleak for the mutants since the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now began following Secret Wars:

M-Pox is spreading as the Terrigen Mists that create new Inhumans are killing and sterilizing mutants. No new mutants are being born and others are dying after exposure to the Mists.

Cyclops died (off-screen) in an attack on the Inhumans. Storm took the school to Limbo to create X-Haven to protect mutants from the mists in Extraordinary X-Men.  Could Death of X reveal what happened to Cyclops and other missing mutants like Emma Frost in the 8 months after Secret Wars and the relaunch? Mystique and Fantomex are running their own investigation of Someday and working for the resurrected Hellfire Club.

Spot-on character portrayals, fast-paced action, killer chemistry and multiple engaging plots and counterplots – writer Cullen Bunn is nailing it with this book.
