Empire has a grip on mutant goodies from X-Men: Day of Future Past. In the aftermath of the magazine’s 25 cover reveals – here are 4 new shots from the upcoming film.

The Bryan Singer directed sequel/prequel unites the cast of X-Men: First Class with stars from the first trilogy. The story is based on the classic Chris Claremont story set in two time periods as mutants from a war-ravaged future attempt to rewrite their own history.

In the first shot above we see new cast member Adan Canto as Sunspot with returning stars Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde, Shawn Ashmore as Bobby Drake aka Iceman and Daniel Cudmore as Colossus.

Sir Ian McKellen returns as a back to full power Magneto rising in a scene from the future timeline. Michael Fassbender reprises his role as the younger Erik Lensherr.

Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine who will be sent back in time to change history. This appears to be Logan back in the 1970’s. Is the man in the mirror just a henchman or a major character? Logan’s old nemesis, William Stryker, appears in the 70’s era scenes.

And finally Jennifer Lawrence taking aim as Mystique. In the last movie Raven left Professor X’s team to join Magneto’s Brotherhood. In the comic book storyline Mystique leads the attack on a Senator – this assassination leads to the dark future in which mutants are hunted by giant robot Sentinels.
