THE NEXT WOLVERINE Part 4

The end is coming for James Howlett as the Death of Wolverine approaches.
Marvel already teased a new hero will rise to become the new Captain America  but can anyone take Logan’s place?

There’s no official word from Marvel on if a new hero will take the code-name and carry on Logan’s legacy but we’ve been looking at heroes and villains who could become The Next Wolverine.

This next suggestion came from a Facebook follower: Jubilee. You may be surprised but this character has radically changed from the bratty mall rat who used to be Wolvie’s sidekick.

Jubilation Lee was a orphan mall rat with the mutant power to create pyrokinetic plasmoids – fireworks.  Jubilee followed the X-Men into a portal from a Los Angeles mall to their hidden base in the Australian Outback. The young mutant became Wolverine’s unofficial sidekick and joined him on many X-Men adventures before joining the kids of Generation X. Jubilee lost her mutant powers on M-day but joined other de-powered mutants in a new version of New Warriors.

Jubilee lost her powers but still identified with the X-Men. During Curse of the Mutants Jubilee was exposed to a virus that transformed her into vampire. Logan and X-23 helped Jubilee learn to control her urge to kill and she could join a cabal of vampires who swore to never take human lives again.

When Brian Wood launched an all-female X-Men, Jubilee returned to the school with an orphaned baby she named Shogo. In a possible future timeline, Shogo would grow up to be a proud X-Man.

When Logan dies Jubilee is one of the former sidekicks who will be hit hard by the loss of their father figure. By turning the fireworks projecting mutant into a tough mother figure and creature of darkness, the X-Office really evolved the character in an unexpected direction that’s made for great stories and story potential.

Jubilee’s vampire powers give her superhuman strength, speed, hyper-senses and the ability to heal – sound familiar? Not to mention Jubilee is armed with razor sharp claws and teeth.

Don’t forget Jubilee’s agility from her years on the run as an orphan on the streets of L.A. Banshee made her a field leader of Generation X. We don’t know the final fate of Jubilee and Shogo as Brian Wood wraps up his final storyline but just imagine a Jubilee suffering with the loss of Logan and Shogo?

This is just speculation on this geek’s part but I can’t imagine Marvel not having a Wolverine. I can’t help but think a mourning hero could rise to carry on Logan’s name and legacy.
