Here’s a rapid fire rundown of the big announcements from Marvel’s X-Men panel at San Diego Comic Con:

RETURN OF NIGHTCRAWLER! Yes, I’m excited about this!

Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness launch Amazing X-Men this November. Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, Beast, Northstar and Firestar go in search of the real Kurt Wagner.

“We’ve planning this and keeping it a secret for a long time. You’re finally going to get the story of the Bamfs.” said X-Men Editor Nick Lowe.

“We want Nightcrawler back, but it better be a damn good resurrection story. We take stuff like that very seriously.” responded Bendis to a fan question. Continue reading Marvel SDCC X-MEN Panel Hits

Si Spurrier (X-Men Legacy, X-Club) launches a new creator-owned series with artist P.J. Holden this week from Titan Comics.

Numbercruncher is an “off-the-wall romance mixing time-travel, life-after-death and coal-black comedy.”

What does the writer who turned Professor Xavier’s troubled son into a leading man have in store with this creation?

From the publisher:

Numbercruncher follows a brilliant Mathematician who dies young, enters the afterlife and discovers a way to cheat the terrifying Divine Calculator. He schemes to be endlessly reincarnated within the lifespan of the woman he loves, no matter how often the violent bailiffs of the Karmic Accountancy cut short each life. It falls Continue reading X-MEN LEGACY Writer’s New Series

Wolverine, Rogue and Kitty Pryde investigate the emergence of new mutants and murder in small town in Marvel Knights: X-Men by Brahm Revel. The writer tells Marvel.com why these mutant heroes made the cut for his 5-part limited series:

“Well Wolverine was a given,” Revel says. “If I’m gonna do an X-Men story, I’m putting Wolverine in it. And as I said above, this is a story about how the past can come back to haunt you, so Wolverine made sense because he is a character with a checkered past. He’s a killer and has rage issues, yet he still identifies himself as a good guy. At a certain point he has to reconcile these two opposing identities. Continue reading Meet the Marvel Knights X-Men

The Marvel Knights imprint is back in a big way with major announcements from the publisher.

I remember back when Marvel recruited Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti to launch the Marvel Knights line…and the rest was history!

The team rebooted Black Panther, Inhumans, Daredevil and Punisher…just for starters!

Quesada eventually became Editor-In-Chief and is now Chief Creative Officer.

Current Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso is reviving the line and has recruited top independent creators to take on classic characters new limited series.

The Women of the Atom are starring in the breakout new book of summer! Jubilee’s return (with baby boy in tow) led to a brand new villain and adventure in X-Men. The enemy is so fearsome even Sublime sought refuge among the mutants he once fought. Brian Wood answered fan questions about the hit series including the mutant turned vampire Jubilee’s role on the team.

“Yeah, I know there’s been some talk about how maybe Jubilee isn’t a vampire any longer, or that I’m ignoring it because she hasn’t displayed any of those traits in an overt way, but she will. Continue reading Jubilee and Son in X-MEN

What If? AvX #1 takes no prisoners!

The very concept of Marvel’s What If? books are supposed to be dramatic changes to some of publisher’s most pivotal storylines. Picking up What If? Avengers vs. X-Men #1, I knew I was going to get a variation on the battle between Marvel’s biggest teams but I wasn’t ready for what happens in this issue!

Just in case you didn’t get the original AvX story: The Phoenix Force was coming to Earth to bond with Hope Summers, the mutant messiah. Wolverine and the Avengers feared the worst and wanted to take Hope into custody. Cyclops and the X-Men believed the Phoenix and Hope could save the mutant race from extinction. One group saw death. One group saw rebirth. All suffered when the Phoenix Force split into five different hosts. Continue reading WHAT IF AVENGERS VS X-MEN #1 Review
