This teaser shows Iron Man and Captain America in a tug of war with the Iron Spider by Adi Granov with Summer 2015.
All those characters were part of the original event by Mark Millar. Granov provided several covers in this style during the epic that saw hero vs. hero over the Superhero Registration Act. Tony Stark and Steve Rogers led opposing groups of heroes that led to the surrender and “assassination” of Captain America.
Marvel just replaced Sam Wilson as the All-New Captain America, Tony Stark is donning silver armor for a Superior Iron Man launch.
Is the 2015 event a sequel, new version or a flashback story?
Today’s teaser comes after Marvel announced Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic was also coming next year. The original 12-part story was Marvel’s biggest heroes vs. villains on an alien world. The Alex Ross teaser looks more like heroes from multiple Earths fighting in out.
Avengers from different Earths have been a key part of Hickman’s Avengers and New Avengers run since he began.
A new Civil War could be a result of the Secret Wars – stay tuned.
