From Captain Kirk to Colonel Steve Trevor.

Chris Pine has reached an agreement to join the DC Comics Movie Universe as Steve Trevor according to The Wrap. Warner Brothers has not made an official announcement yet.

Pine will star opposite Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman with possible sequels as part of the deal.

Patty Jenkins is directing the solo film starring the Amazon warrior following Diana Prince’s debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The role could make Pine more than just a love interest for Wonder Woman but also a major “Nick Fury” style character for the Warner Brothers/DC Comics films.

In comics Steve Trevor was U.S. Army Intelligence officer who crashed on Paradise Island in World War II. Diana rescued him, nursed him back to health and followed him back to America.

In modern comics continuity Trevor is the government liaison officer with the Justice League on behalf of the United Nations. Steve falls in love with Wonder Woman but is humiliated when she chooses Superman.

Trevor works with Amanda Waller (of Task Force X aka Suicide Squad) for A.R.G.U.S. (Advanced Research Group for Uniting Super-Humans).Viola Davis is playing Waller aka “The Wall” in Suicide Squad in 2016.

Steve Trevor or Waller could play a key role like Samuel L. Jackson or Clark Gregg that carries through the DC Universe films.

Lyle Waggoner played Trevor in the Lynda Carter television series. Wonder Woman is scheduled for June 23, 2017.

Pine is starring opposite Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad) in Z Is For Zachariah this Fall. Pine will beam up as Captain Kirk in Star Trek Beyond
