Han Solo’s co-pilot gets the spotlight in his own comic book series and he’s getting his own new sidekick.
It was all part of the huge news for Star Wars and Chewie fans during Comic-Con. The other was seeing Peter Mayhew in and out of costume in a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens reel.
Marvel announced a Star Wars: Chewbacca limited series by Gerry Duggan and Phil Noto. Chewbacca crash lands on a strange new planet for his own adventure and make new allies while dodging the Empire.
Duggan describes the co-star of Chewie’s solo series:
“Zarro’s home is under threat, and when others shrink, she stands tall. At first glance, she sees Chewie as the extra muscles she needs. The brains attached to those muscles will be a surprise for her.” Duggan told Marvel.com.
“The Empire’s tendrils threaten to wrap around Zarro’s home, and I think how Chewie and Zarro manage to deal with the threat will be a fun surprise for fans. Both Phil and I are so excited to be collaborating on a Star Wars comic. The term “dream project” is probably overused, but there is simply no other way to describe the gig. If fans have half as much fun as we do, then everybody’s in for a fun ride.”
Star Wars: Chewbacca takes flight this October.
