Marvel Entertainment announced a renewed exclusive agreement with Brian Michael Bendis.

Earlier today the fan-favorite and multiple Eisner award-winning writer announced he would be leaving the X-Men franchise with Uncanny X-Men #600 this May.

The writer is acclaimed for lengthy runs on Daredevil, Avengers, X-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy.

“There’s been some speculation that I will be leaving comics because of other cool things going on in my life but I wanted to let everyone know that isn’t the case. I get it, sometimes when people have something going on in other media they tend to drift away from comics. But that is the opposite of what my life’s goals are,” Bendis said about his Marvel career.

“I want to bring people into comics so they can see the original wonderful magic we have to offer every single week,” Bendis continues. “My partnership with Marvel, since the first day they hired me, has been a continuous dream come true and I’m honored that I get to continue this partnership for many years to come.”

Bendis had an eight year run on the Avengers that saw characters like Luke Cage and Spider-Woman return to prominence. The writer’s consecutive 200+ issue of Ultimate Spider-Man included the introduction of Miles Morales. Bendis brought Jean Grey and the original X-Men back to comics and introduced many new mutant heroes.

As Bendis builds up to his X-Men departure, fans can expect brand new books including Guardians Team-Up and Ultimate End, the final Ultimate Universe story and a soon to be announced Secret Wars series that “will have all Marvel fans keeping their eyes on Battleworld.”

Bendis will continue to write Powers, his acclaimed creator owned title under the Icon imprint with Michael Avon Oeming.

After iconic runs on Daredevil, Avengers, X-Men what Marvel heroes will he take on next?
