Three young actors have been cast as three of the most iconic mutants in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Director Bryan Singer revealed Alexandra Shipp will play Ororo Munroe (aka Storm) Sophie Turner will be Jean Grey and Tye Sheridan will portray Scott Summers (aka Cyclops) via Twitter.
The new film will be set in the 1980’s with James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence returning as Professor Xavier, Magneto and Mystique. Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine.
Turner is best known as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones.
Oscar Isaac is playing En Sabah Nur, aka the first mutant will become known as Apocalypse. The villain was revealed in ancient Egypt in a post-credits teaser for the sequel.
No official word on if any more classic X-Men characters will be recast or if any are joining the sequel.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 26, 2016.
The original five students of Xavier in comics (Scott, Jean, Hank McCoy aka Beast, Bobby Drake aka Iceman, Warren Worthington aka Angel) are now trapped in the present day Marvel Comics Universe and starring in All-New X-Men.
