X-MEN Characters In DEADPOOL Movie? For Your Consideration

With the announcement of a Deadpool solo movie in 2016 – let the speculation begin!

Will Ryan Reynolds reprise his role as Wade Wilson and continue the story from X-Men Origins: Wolverine or will Fox completely reboot the anti-hero’s story. Remember, X-Men: Days of Future Past reset the timeline.

Who else should be in a Deadpool movie?

X-Force? Deadpool was introduced in New Mutants which became the first version of the pro-active mutant squad led by Cable. Deadpool wasn’t on the team but he was part of the underground world

of mercenaries and terrorists that Cable, Domino, Cannonball, Sunspot, Warpath and Boom Boom run through in their fight for mutants.  Deadpool was recruited to join Wolverine’s Uncanny X-Force (Psylocke, Archangel, Fantomex) before going solo again. No word on if Fox is still moving ahead with its X-Force movie or Deadpool will replace it on the slate of X-Men spinoffs.

Domino. Definitely Domino. Neena Thurman is one of my all-time favorite members of the X-Men extended family. Domino is a hand-to-hand combat and weapons expert with a mutant power to alter probability. Sexy, tough and sarcastic – Domino would a great foil and “straight man” to the motormouth comic antics of Deadpool.

Copycat. Vanessa Carlyle is a shapeshifter like Mystique who impersonated Domino for years to infiltrate Cable’s Six Pack and X-Force teams. Vanessa dated Wade before leaving him for a fellow Weapon X survivor.

Kane aka Weapon X. Garrison Kane has the ability to access and use any mutant power he records and is a skilled fighter. Kane later became a cyborg thanks to the Weapon X program and was part of Cable’s mercenary team called the Six Pack. Kane dated Wade ex’s after him. Kane could be the arrogant pretty boy antagonist of Wade if both mercs were hired for the same job.

The Weapon X Program. The covert military operation that produced Wolverine and Deadpool gave the Marvel Universe us outrageous characters like Wild Child, Slayback, Reaper and Marrow who could take on Wade.

Tolliver. It’s complicated…really complicated but Tolliver was mysterious arms dealer and underworld power broker who hired Deadpool and was the focus of Deadpool’s first limited series: The Circle Chase. Tolliver was actually Tyler Dayspring, the son/nephew of Cable from the distant future, which makes him the grandson of Cyclops from the future. Too complicated.

What’s better than Deadpool? A legion of Deadpools!

The Deadpool Corps. Wade Wilson’s modern solo stories have been with a heavy dose of humor and could inspire a radical direction in X-movies. There’s Lady Deadpool, Dogpool and Headpool, the surviving body part of Wade from a dimension of zombies. This motley crew are members of the Deadpool Corps made of alternate versions of himself from multiple dimensions and the inspiration for many cosplayers!

And just one more….

Combine geek great loves: costumed anti-heroes and zombies and give us Night of the Living Deadpool – Cullen Bunn’s hilarious and creepy story of Wade as the last living costumed hero in a world overrun by the undead. A sequel is on the way in 2015.

Deadpool Diagnosis:

Keep it sarcastic and action packed but grounded in the X-Men world. If Reynolds returns, give him a stellar extended cast of Marvel’s coolest mercs like Domino, which could set the stage for an X-Force movie.

Maybe even Deadpool vs. X-Force? Which is on sale now
