Fox gave fans Marvel-ous moments and big reveals at Comic-Con.

The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse including Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Fantastic Four, Deadpool including Ryan Reynolds and even Channing Tatum, the future Gambit joined Stan Lee for the “ultimate superhero selfie.”

Fans learned new details about X-Men: Apocalypse including the identities of the titular villain’s Four Horsemen – and the truth may shock some longtime X-fans.

We knew the story is set in the 1980’s 10 years after the events of Days of Future Past.

Alexandra Shipp is playing a younger Storm but this is Ororo with her Mohawk.

Professor X (James McAvoy) will be bald in the new film while Magneto (Michael Fassbender) has “given up the cape and his evil ways.”

The big surprise is the identity of Apocalypse’s Four Horsemen. The immortal mutant always has four ambassadors/enforcers representing Famine, War, Pestilence, and Death executing his command.

Spoiler Alert:

If you do not want to know the identities stop reading now.

Here it comes:

The Four Horsemen in X-Men: Apocalypse are:

Angel/Archangel (Ben Hardy)

Magneto (Fassbender)

Psylocke (Olivia Munn)

Storm, Mohawk Storm (Shipp)

In the comics, Warren Worthington/Angel did become Death and was given a new code-name Archangel, after Apocalypse replace his mutant wings with wings of living poison metal. Gambit and Sunspot were also Horsemen of En Sabah Nur in the comics.

The biggest surprises are that Psylocke (a telepath/telekinetic with ninja skills) will be one. Elizabeth Braddock (her real name) became lovers with Archangel and in Wolverine’s X-Force, they fought a reborn Apocalypse.

In a major shift from comics canon, Storm falling under Apocalypse’s influence is huge. This is a younger, more rebellious (given the Mohawk) version of Ororo before she became Professor X’s heir apparent played by Halle Berry. This move could fit with Storm’s comic book history. Apocalypse was born in ancient Egypt. Storm has African-American parents were killed while on vacation in Egypt and young Ororo grew up as a child street thief on the streets of Cairo.

How did they become the Horsemen?

Oscar Isaac says one of Apocalypse’s abilities is “the power of persuasion” and he’s convinced them to follow him and inspired cults around the world.

One other theory could be from a X-Men storyline from the 2000 called The Twelve. In an attempt to reach greater God-like power Apocalypse would gather 12 mutants to siphon their power. The List of Twelve were Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, Storm, Polaris, Iceman, Sunfire, Cable, Phoenix, Bishop, The Living Monolith and Mikhail Rasputin – older brother of Colossus.

The influence of Apocalypse could be felt after the next sequel. Deadpool, Psylocke and Archangel were part of Wolverine’s Uncanny X-Force, which sought to prevent the rebirth of En Sabah Nur.

What do you think of the revelation?

 X-Men: Apocalypse opens May, 2016.
