Longtime writer David explains how X-Factor is ending and how fans of each member might be satisfied on Marvel.com:
“It will be a series of one-issue stories each focusing on one or two characters, trying to give each of them a decent conclusion,” says David.
This week’s chapter focuses on one of the longest running mysteries of the book and the Marvel Universe. Longshot escaped Mojoworld and joined the X-Men. Shatterstar was part of the original X-Force and shares a Mojoworld connection to Longshot but has his own complicated history.
Longshot has an on-again, off-again romance with Dazzler. Shatterstar’s heart belongs to Rictor but maybe not his wandering eye!
David reflected on the memorable couple and the moment they first gave in to their attraction.
“When I had Shatterstar kiss Rictor, I wasn’t thinking about it being a big deal. I mean, it was panel five on a six panel page. It wasn’t like I made it a full-page thing and made a big deal about it. It was just something that seemed natural after all this time. This is the 21st century, why are we screwing around with this? I really didn’t think about it being a big deal, which is why it broke me up when some people accused me of doing it specifically to be a big deal,” David says, “I loved when the pregnant Wolfsbane crashed into Shatterstar when she found him in bed with Rictor. I loved that moment, I thought that was great.”
Peter David already had a project at Marvel but no word on what it could be.
X-Factor #259 arrives today. Where will the members of X-Factor turn up after the book ends? Here are my X-Factor X-pectations.
