Inhuman #3 hit comic book shops this week.

The first arc of writer Charles Soule and Joe Madureira comes to a conclusion as the Inhumans are front and center of the Marvel Universe.

Fan speculation about Marvel Studios film is at an all-time high after a recent post by Guardians of the Galaxy star Vin Diesel. Plus, the success of Guardians proved a lesser known Marvel team could still be stellar box office.

The Inhumans have been supporting players in many Marvel sagas starring Avengers and the Fantastic Four. The Inhumans could have been characters in a tug of war between Marvel and Fox like Quicksilver in X-Men and Avengers films but it appears Marvel has control over the cinematic future of the strange tribe.

Let’s look at their comic book DNA:

The Kree (Ronan and Korath of Guardians of the Galaxy are member of this alien empire) experimented on ancient Earthlings to create a super soldier army. The descendants formed a secret society hidden from Earth. When an Inhuman comes of age, they are exposed the Terrigen Mists which ignites their genes giving them unique abilities and often strange new appearances.

Black Bolt and Medusa were the King of Queen of the Royal Family including Karnak, Crystal, Gorgon, Triton and Maximus who lived in Attilan, their own floating city. They have a pet, Lockjaw. Imagine a giant bulldog with time travel and teleporting abilities.

To be a reclusive race, they have strong ties to all the major Marvel teams.

The Inhumans first appeared in Fantastic Four. Medusa and Crystal have been members of the FF. Medusa recently helped lead the Future Foundation. Crystal was Johnny Storm’s girlfriend but later married and divorced Quicksilver. Crystal and Pietro’s daughter, Luna, is the granddaughter of Magneto. Crystal has even been an Avenger.

Black Bolt was a member of the Illuminati, a covert team (Tony Stark, Dr. Strange, Namor, Black Panther, Beast) trying to protect the Earth while keeping their plans secret from other heroes because their methods are often unethical but they believe they serve the greater good.

During Infinity, Black Bolt stood against Thanos to protect Earth and the Mad God’s long-lost son who was living among a lost tribe of Inhumans. In the battle Black Bolt destroyed Attilan and unleashed the Terrigen Bomb. This explosion ignited dormant DNA turning ordinary humans into a new generation of Inhumans possibly in the thousands or millions.

Black Bolt is missing.

Queen Medusa is trying to protect the survivors of Attilan and frightened young Inhumans targeted by S.H.I.E.L.D., A.I.M. and scared mobs.

Inhumans from other hidden tribes are rising up to jockey for power in the new world order.

Charles Soule is creating a strange world within a world that’s a hybrid of X-Men and Game of Thrones that could introduce new heroes and villains into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans are speculating Inhumans could be next for a movie given a new Guardians of the Galaxy comic was launched a year before it would go on to rule the box office.

Inhuman #3 arrives today. It’s a book to watch and given the Inhumans connections to Avengers, Thanos and Kree – they are prime suspects to be Marvel’s future movie superstars.
