In Deadpool Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) teased Cable will be in the sequel.

Josh Brolin will play Cable according to The Hollywood Reporter. If this is confirmed Brolin will make comics movie history.
Brolin plays Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Mad God of Titan first appeared in The Avengers then Brolin played the super villain in Guardians of the Galaxy and will reprise the role in Avengers: Infinity War.
Deadpool is part of the Marvel X-Men franchise which is controlled by Fox.
In comics Cable is Nathan Summers, the son of X-Men Cyclops and a clone of Jean Grey. As a child, Nathan was taken into the far future where he was raised in a world ruled by Apocalypse. Cable is a telekinetic and cyborg who went back in time to prevent the rise of Apocalypse. Cable led a team of mercenaries called the Six Pack before becoming leader of the New Mutants (former students of Professor Xavier) and transforming them in a pro-active team called X-Force.
In comics Deadpool was introduced as a villain to Cable and X-Force. The two shared their own series together.
This is fourth comic book role for Brolin (Jonah Hex, Men in Black 3, Thanos in Guardians/Avengers and now Cable.)
Earlier this year Reynolds announced Zazie Beets will play Domino in the sequel. Domino was Cable’s lover and part of X-Force. In the comics Deadpool’s girlfriend Vanessa aka Copycat impersonated Domino to spy on Cable.
Fox is reportedly also developing a New Mutants film and a possible X-Force film. Cable led both teams at one point in the comics. Deadpool was a member of a later version of X-Force led by Wolverine.
A new Cable comic book series by James Robinson and Carlos Pachecho launches later month.
