Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry and more original X-trilogy cast members unite with the First Class (James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence) cast for a time-travel extravaganza with Sentinels and new mutants (Warpath, Bishop, Blink.) X-Men from a future ruled by mutant hunting robots send Logan back in time to change the past.
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
A very close second! Based on the Ed Brubaker storyline that made me love Captain America all over again.
Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers and must uncover a conspiracy within S.H.I.E.L.D. and face his best friend (Sebastian Stan as the cybernetic brainwashed badass) turned ruthless rival. Scarlett Johansson returns as Black Widow with Anthony Mackie as Falcon. Samuel L. Jackson is Nick Fury and legendary actor Robert Redford is S.H.I.E.L.D. high command Alexander Pierce.
Fans of Cap’s rogues gallery will be watching for Frank Grillo as the man who becomes Crossbones and Georges St. Pierre as Batroc.
3. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Picking up a decade after the viral outbreak from the previous film – Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) goes in search of Caesar (Andy Serkis) as refugee human survivors face the wrath of genetically evolving apes. The great Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Trilogy) plays a leader of the humans.
4. Interstellar
Sci-Fi by Christopher Nolan, nuff said! But here’s more – Matthew McConaughey leads wormhole mission to find new resources for a devastated Earth.
5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Andrew Garfield comes out swinging against Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) but the scene stealer of the trailer is the creepy cool Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn.
6. Guardians of the Galaxy
Marvel’s biggest risk in their movie franchise but with all the crazy elements – it could be a breakout smash of action and comedy!
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper for director James Gunn could make this ragtag Avengers in space a smash and cue up future space based heroes (Nova, Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Captain Marvel) for the big screen.
7. Transcendence
Wally Pfister (longtime cinematographer for Christopher Nolan) in his directorial debut. Johnny Depp plays a terminally ill scientist who downloads his mind into a computer.
8. Hercules
Dwayne Johnson as the Demi-God based on the awesome Hercules: The Thracian Wars comic book.
9. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
So exited to get down and dirty for director Robert Rodriguez’s star packed sequel. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eva Green and Lady Gaga and Josh Brolin join favorites from of the 2005 hit to bring more Frank Miller’s crime epic to the big screen.
10. Godzilla
You’re gonna hear him “ROAR!” Bryan Cranston is among the mortals in this disaster epic that could stomp out your memories of earlier versions. Here’s to Godzilla retaking the throne as the King of Monsters.
11. Robocop
I LOVED the original. Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) Samuel L. Jackson and the great Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton star in the remake of a good cop reborn as cyborg fighting real criminals and a conspiracy within the company who runs law enforcement like a business in the future.
12. Muppets Most Wanted
It’s time to play the music! It’s time to light the lights! It’s time for a sequel as Kermit and company are caught up in an international jewel heist and guest human Tom Hiddleston (Loki from Thor, The Avengers) and Tina Fey.
13. The Equalizer
Based on the classic television that I loved. Denzel Washington takes over the role played by the latest Edward Woodward as a former covert operative seeking redemption. McCall hopes to make up for his dark past as a vigilante. Washington reunited with director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) for the movie.
14. The LEGO Movie
You don’t a have to wait to see Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman together on the big screen! DC’s holy trinity are among the brick by brick creations come to life.
