Just when you thought it was safe to go shopping for a X-Men/Guardians of the Galaxy wedding along comes…the destruction of the universe!
Peter Quill and Kitty Pryde got engaged in the finale of The Black Vortex crossover then came Secret Wars.
Quill and Kitty are reunited in Star-Lord and Kitty Pryde this week but don’t celebrate just yet. Doctor Doom created his Battleworld from remnants of lost Marvel timelines. Quill is about to the Kitty from the Age of Apocalypse. This is the ruthless Shadowcat raised to be an assassin and armed with claws.
After putting Quill and Pryde together, writer Sam Humphries explains the twist he’s plotting for the couple known by social media fans as #StarKat:
“I saw it as an opportunity to get deeper into her character. They’re both Kitty Pryde, how can they be different yet be the same person? One’s got the biggest heart in the universe, the other is practically an assassin. Can we find one Kitty in the other?” Humphries said in a Marvel liveblog.
Avid Secret Wars readers will see a connection in this week’s issue to another big tie-in book. Quill and Kitty will meet up in The Quiet Room, the “Hellfire Club” style space run by Black Bolt as seen in Inhumans: Attilan Rising.
