Marvel heroes dominated the movie box-office. 2014 is the year Marvel really went into orbit with a ragtag bunch of “losers” who injected new excitement into their cinematic universe.

Here are great gifts for Marvel fans inspired by this year’s hit.

Guardians of the Galaxy was Marvel’s biggest gamble yet with little known heroes who aren’t really superheroes. Chris Pratt was Peter Quill/Star-Lord who assembled Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot into unlikely heroes against the Ronan the Accuser. Writer/director James Gunn gave fans a Star Wars for the Marvel Universe. The film also introduced the Nova Corps, Nebula and Josh Brolin as Thanos. Peter Quill and Gamora have a flirtation in Guardians of the Galaxy on the big screen but in the comics Quill is in a long-distance budding relationship with Kitty Pryde of the X-Men!

Marvel shared a look at the cover for Legendary Star-Lord #7 by Paco Medina as Kitty takes command of Quill.

Guess they do like “pina coladas and getting caught in the rain…” like the Rupert Holmes song goes on the Awesome Megamix 1.

Peter Quill flies solo in Legendary Star-Lord #1 this week. The leader of Guardians of the Galaxy stars in his own title by Sam Humphries (Uncanny X-Force, Avengers A.I.) and Paco Medina.
