DC Comics’ Scarlet Speedster is on the fast track for big exposure. The publisher revealed The Flash #30 will be the first issue by new creative team Robert Venditti and Van Jensen (Green Lantern) and artist Brett Booth via USA Today.

Barry Allen will have more procedural adventures in his role as Central City Police crime lab tech while another famous speedster joins the series. Wally West will be reintroduced in The Flash Annual #3 one week after the new team joins the main series.

“From a very young age, one of the first things you want to be able to do is run fast,” Venditti told USA Today of the hero’s appeal. “You don’t want to fly, you don’t want to have a ring that makes constructs out of light. It’s just a simple, basic thing: ‘I want to be able to run fast.’
“It’s ingrained in our DNA, and here’s a character that lives that out.”

Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin) appeared on two episodes of Arrow and there’s a pilot for a potential television series in the works. No word on if the hero will appear in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel which includes Batman and Wonder Woman – which could lead to a Justice League movie.
