Just when we thought we had our 15 characters to watch in 2015 – along comes Eva Bell in Uncanny X-Men #29.

Eva aka Tempus is one of the fascinating new mutants created by Brian Michael Bendis in this X-Men run. The Australian can manipulate time. The breakout character starred in her own two-part tale in Uncanny X-Men and All-New X-Men Annuals. Bendis and artist Andrea Sorrentino crafted a tragic, time twisting tale that may have taken you back to the breakthrough Chris Claremont/Bill Sienkiewicz New Mutants era.

Before I continue here’s a…

SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not ready Uncanny X-Men #29 stop reading now.

Seriously.

Here it comes.

Bendis revealed Professor X’s greatest and most dangerous secret in The Last Will and Testament of Charles Xavier. Matthew Mallow is an omega level mutant so terrifying the Professor erased the young man’s memories of his powers. With the Professor’s death – the mental blocks finally broke. Matthew was unleashed leading to a frightening showdown between Cyclops, Magneto and S.H.I.E.L.D.

Eva Bell believed she could go back in time to warn Professor X about this. As S.H.I.E.L.D. opened fire on Cyclops, Matthew and Magik the scene cut to Professor Xavier at his mansion years ago and Eva Bell.

Professor X will surely use his mental powers to read her mind and see not only the consequences of his actions involving Matthew but the tragic future ahead for his students and his own murder by Scott Summers.

Bendis kicked off this X-run with veteran X-Man Beast bringing the original students into the future hoping to influence Cyclops to stop his mutant revolution.

Now a rookie X-Man is playing with time  – what will be the consequences be?

The blast from the past concept is a winner. Having the original X-Men come to the future led to emotion and action filled stories – will the young, inexperienced Professor X join the future?

We’ll find out more in Uncanny X-Men #30 soon.
