X-Men: Apocalypse packed a ton of comic book history in the super-powered follow-up to First Class and Days of Future Past.

The sequel reunited Professor X, Mystique, Magneto, Beast and scene-stealing Quicksilver; introduced young Scott Summers, Jean Grey, Storm, Nightcrawler, Angel joined the cast plus Psylocke and a few surprises.

Logan popped his claws for an extended cameo. That sequence ignited big story potential for the next Wolverine or future X-Men sequel.

After the credits there a big name drop hinting of the next super villain who will torment the Children of the Atom.

Next X-MEN Movie Set in the ’90’s

The X-Men movie franchise is jumping into a new decade – one that was a blockbuster era for the comic book.

The current trilogy is leaping through the decades. First Class was set in the 1960’s in the heart of the Cold War. Days of Future Past was set in the 1970’s during the Nixon era and reset the timeline. X-Men: Apocalypse rises in 1983 in this summer’s sequel.

Producer Simon Kinberg confirmed the next film will time jump again:

“The next one is set in the ’90’s” said Kinberg according to ComingSoon.

The final trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse from 20th Century Fox delivered huge showdowns, revelations and a surprise.

Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) is an immortal mutant and one of the team’s greatest enemies from comics. En Sabah Nur (aka The First One) first appeared in ancient Egypt, raised by a tribe who fanatically believed only the strong survive. Four Horsemen follow the blue-skinned powerhouse and execute his ruthless agenda. Apocalypse awakens and recruits (Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Ben Hardy as Archangel, Alexandra Shipp as a younger Storm) to destroy the world and rebuild it.

The new film is set in the 1980’s and director Bryan Singer’s follow-up to Days of Future Past. with cast members from First Class.

An old friend joins the battle for survival in the final trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse courtesy Fox.

Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) returns to the Xavier School as Professor X (James McAvoy)  and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and the new generation of students to confront an ancient evil.

The immortal mutant Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) rises with Four Horsemen (Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Ben Hardy as Archangel, Alexandra Shipp as a young Mohawk wearing Storm) to destroy and create a new world order.

Quicksilver (Evan Peters) is back with a big revelation. Nightcrawler and Jubilee join the action.
