The women behind Agent Carter take Captain Marvel into orbit and Poison Ivy gets her own book! These two women take the lead in our new comic picks of the week.

Captain Marvel #1 Carol Danvers leads Alpha Flight?! The fan-favorite Avenger is the new head of S.W.O.R.D. with her own team and satellite headquarters. Danvers is Earth’s first of defense against alien threats in a new series by the team behind Marvel’s Agent Carter and Uncanny X-Men artist Kris Anka.

Poison Ivy: The Cycle of Life and Death #1 The Batman femme fatale in her own limited series. Dr. Isley gets a new start but when a fellow scientist is killed, all evidence points to Ivy. One of the biggest Secret Wars hits is back! New hero Singularity assembles She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Captain Marvel and Nico Minoru to fight threats across the multiverse. G. Willow Wilson and Jorge Molina re-Assemble an all-female Avengers.

Marvel’s ongoing Star Wars comics set after A New Hope are the new canon and make you feel like the film never ended. The Lando and Chewbacca limited series were stellar. Now we have Obi-Wan and Anakin. With the success of The Force Awakens can we please have a limited series starring Captain Phasma and the Stormtrooper who would become Finn or an adventure with Rey? Deadpool and Cable: Split Second #1

The Merc With a Mouth reunites with Cyclops’ cyborg future son. Back in the 90’s Wade and Cable co-starred in a “buddy” adventure. Fabian Nicieza and Reilly Brown throw in time travel, Hydra and a new villain in this digital first limited series but what about Deadpool and Cable? Is the bromance back or will they be mortal enemies again?

Lazarus #21

The welcome return of Greg Rucka and Michael Lark’s sci-fi epic after a break while Rucka launched Black Magick (issue 3 is also out this week.) This is the finale of the current arc that changes everything. Forever is born to kill and fight for her family – one of 16 that rule the future. MOST WANTED For MARVEL STAR WARS Comics

The Force is strong as Star Wars comes home to Marvel and we eagerly awaken The Force Awakens.
