Pacific Northwest cosplayers help make Emerald City Comicon such a geek-tacular experience.
The Seattle celebration always marks a reunion with new friends you see online and in person (often in costume) at the con. As big at ECCC is growing you can still run into your favorite cosplayers, collectors and fellow fans.
I met Ryan and Lauren a few years ago at the Jet City Comic Book Show (also produced by the team behind ECCC) dressed as my favorite Marvel couple: Kitty Pryde and Colossus. Continue reading X-MEN COSPLAYERS of EMERALD CITY COMICON
The new trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past is here via YouTube.
Director Bryan Singer unites the cast of X-Men: First Class with the original X trilogy in a film based on the classic story by Chris Claremont.
In 2023 Professor X (Patrick Stewart) Magneto (Ian McKellen) and surviving X-Men (Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin) send Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) back to the 1970’s to change history.
Logan confronts young Charles (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) to unite and prevent a war that will decimate the mutant race but the one person who may not veer from her path is Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence.)
Empire has a grip on mutant goodies from X-Men: Day of Future Past. In the aftermath of the magazine’s 25 cover reveals – here are 4 new shots from the upcoming film.
The Bryan Singer directed sequel/prequel unites the cast of X-Men: First Class with stars from the first trilogy. The story is based on the classic Chris Claremont story set in two time periods as mutants from a war-ravaged future attempt to rewrite their own history. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens this week. Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as Katniss Everdeen, who is forced to compete in deadly new games of former champions (including Josh Hutcherson back at Peeta.)
Before global success of The Hunger Games, before winning an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, Lawrence and her leading men (Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth) came to Seattle on The Hunger Games Tour. I remember young fans erupting into a frenzy like tributes arriving in the Capitol.
I wanted to share part of that interview again. Most of the young fans were on Team Gale or Team Peeta. I asked Lawrence about the relationship between Katniss and Cinna, the stylist who becomes her mentor. While filming X-Men: First Class Lawrence (who played Raven/Mystique) became friends with co-star Zoe Kravitz (who played Angel) and developed a friendship with her dad, rock star Lenny Kravitz. She explained that helped their on-screen rapport:
Kravitz returns as Cinna to prepare Katniss and Peeta for the Hunger Games Quarter Quell as the new District 12 champions must fight for their lives again against former winners.
Director Bryan Singer chatted with fans via Twitter ahead of tomorrow’s trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Here are the 3 big highlights.
The huge cast will include new mutants in their cinematic debut. Bishop, Quicksilver and Blink have previously been confirmed. But today Singer said Warpath, Sunspot and Ink will appear in the film.
“Although there is a great deal of humor, the overall tone is a bit darker than previous films, particularly because of the stakes,” Singer said of the film uniting the cast of First Class and the first trilogy. Continue reading Bryan Singer on X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
The Oscar golden girl goes blue again in X-Men Days of Future Past. Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as mutant shapeshifter Mystique and tells SciFiNow bluntly:
“I’m naked,” says the star. “But when I do get to wear clothes, I love the ’70s outfits.”
The Oscar winning golden girl is back in blue as Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as the shapeshifting mutant who shift loyalties from Professor X to Magneto in X-Men: First Class.
From this shot Raven is as agile as ever using her entire body as a weapon. Looks like Lawrence is using some of the skills she developed dancing in Silver Linings Playbook.
Director Bryan Singer shared (via Twitter) this shot of the shapeshifter getting a leg up on her victim. In the classic Chris Claremont story in which the film is based, Mystique (Raven Darkholme) is the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. The X-Men must prevent the assassination of a Senator which will lead to a dark, dystopian future ruled by Sentinels. The giant, mutant hunting robots are the products of Trask Industries.
Don’t call Bobby Drake the class clown of the X-Men anymore!
Bobby is more powerful than ever, dating Kitty Pryde and playing an important role for Wolverine in the Jean Grey School.
But is Bobby slipping to the dark side? Just look at Phil Noto’s cover for this week’s Astonishing X-Men #63 courtesy Marvel.
Bobby has always been an omega level mutant but he recently learned to push the boundaries of his ice powers.
And let’s talk about Bobby’s love life. While Iceman and Kitty Pryde shared a kiss and date in Jason Aaron’s Wolverine and the X-Men Bobby received attention from Warbird in Marjorie Liu’s Astonishing X-Men. (And how cool is it that Iceman is in multiple booksbut Bobby will never beat Logan’s record!)
