Marvel reveals new art from John Cassaday and a new interview with Joss Whedon about their upcoming reunion. The Astonishing X-Men team will work together again on a new story for Captain America’s 75th Anniversary as revealed in EW.

The Avengers director and acclaimed artist collaborated on an iconic and influential X-Men run. The new story starring Steve Rogers will appear in Captain America: Sam Wilson #7.

This is Whedon’s first time writing the hero in a comic book.

STEVE ROGERS RETURNS AS CAPTAIN AMERICA

During the Captain America: 75 Heroic Years special on ABC tonight Marvel revealed Steve Rogers would return as the hero in comics.

Last year a villain called the Iron Nail seized the Super Soldier Serum from Rogers’ body leaving him an old man without powers. Rogers continued to have an advisory role with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and is a member of the Uncanny Avengers cast.

Rogers recruited longtime friend and former partner Sam Wilson (aka Falcon) to be the new Captain America. Wilson is currently starring in a solo series by Nick Spencer and leads the All-New, All-Different Avengers by Mark Waid.

Rogers and Wilson are estranged but both will come together to a new threat in the crossover: Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill, where “something happens that restores Steve to full vigor” writer Nick Spencer revealed.

Marvel’s ongoing Star Wars comics set after A New Hope are the new canon and make you feel like the film never ended. The Lando and Chewbacca limited series were stellar. Now we have Obi-Wan and Anakin. With the success of The Force Awakens can we please have a limited series starring Captain Phasma and the Stormtrooper who would become Finn or an adventure with Rey?
