QUICKSILVER CONTROVERSY In X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Of all the Marvel heroes who would have thought Quicksilver would be the co-star of two major movie franchises and the eye of storm among fans.

Shortly after Joss Whedon revealed Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) would appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron…fans learned Quicksilver (Evan Peters) would be in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The twins are the children of Magneto who first appeared in the X-Men comics but later reformed and became Avengers so both Marvel Studios and Fox can use them.

Both versions of Quicksilver will differ from his comic book origins. X-Men Producer/writer Simon Kinberg says they had not anticipated the mixed fan reaction to having the mutant speedster in the sequel

in a new Total Film interview.

Kinberg says producers considered having Scarlet Witch in the film and even shooting but cutting a scene that “alluded to her.”

As for Quicksilver speeding into X-Men Apocalypse?

He will “absolutely be back” according to Kinberg.

No official word on if Quicksilver (Pietro in comics, Peter in the film – Maximoff) is the actual son of Magneto (Michael Fassbender.) If you’ve seen the trailers and character bio video you’ll see this Quicksilver provides action but some humor unlike his comic book counterpart who always appear arrogant and aloof.

An interesting note from the comics:

In the Age of Apocalypse alternative timeline Quicksilver and Storm are a couple so X-Men: Apocalypse could be a younger version of Ororo before she was discovered by Professor X.

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens Friday.
