A new NEW MUTANTS forms to take on new supernatural threats. The roster will be packed with odd favorites from other X-Men teams.
Marvel announced NEW MUTANTS: DEAD SOULS by Matthew Rosenberg and Adam Gorham. The six-issue limited series arrives in March ahead of the NEW MUTANTS film.
“To me, the New Mutants exemplify everything I love about [super hero teams],” Rosenberg told Marvel. “They are true underdogs, doubted and dismissed, but always ready to prove themselves. They’re the weirdos, the outcasts, the leftovers, and the misfits, but they are there for the people who need them.”
Each chapter will be a standalone story with team up against supernatural forces. Karma sends out the call for the new team which includes New Mutants alums Magik, Wolfsbane, Rictor, and Boom Boom plus Strong Guy of X-Factor.
The upcoming NEW MUTANTS film from director Josh Boone and Fox will be a horror film with mutants. See the trailer here.
The new title follows the tradition of mutants fighting the supernatural: The Demon Bear and the demon lord Belasco were major villains of the original series plus Magik is a sorceress and Rhane is a werewolf.
Rosenberg is writing THE PHOENIX RESURRECTION: THE RETURN OF JEAN GREY later this month.
