A sci-fi villain and rock and roll legend score their own comic books, fallout from Civil War II and the X-Men’s next strike against the Inhumans. It’s a big week for comic book fans.
Welcome to this week’s new comic book picks.
We have to start this out with the return of a classic Kirby creation in an ambitious storytelling adventure:
Kamandi Challenge #1 An all-star roster brings back the boy hero of Jack Kirby’s post-Apocalyptic Earth. Fourteen superstar creative teams embark on an odyssey sending Kamandi across the DC Universe to find his parents. Each chapter ends with a cliffhanger. The next writer/artist will have to pick up the action, resolve it and create their own. Dan Abnett and Dale Eaglesham kick off the challenge.
Back to the Future Biff to the Future #1 A brand new tale starring the bad guy of the beloved sci-fi classic. Biff’s time traveling mission threatens to dramatically reshape history. Bob Gale reveals the alternative life story of Tannen’s rise to power and nightmare future. Can Marty and Doc Brown save the day again?
IvX #3 Medusa and her most powerful allies are beaten. The X-Men have conquered New Attilan and are preparing to destroy the final Terrigen Cloud to protect the mutant race. Is this end of the Inhumans? Charles Soule and Jeff Lemire continue their epic showdown that will change two of Marvel’s biggest franchise families.
Civil War II: The Oath #1 The epilogue of the superhero war. Captain Marvel and Iron Man turn to Captain America. How will the Hydra Steve Rogers affect Carol Danvers and Tony Stark in the already unstable aftermath. I’m a huge fan of these post-event one-shots. If this is anything like Civil War: The Confession then this will be one to not miss.
KISS The Demon #1 Three KISS fans unite to form their own band but their adventure in music will take a dark turn. Amy Chu reveals the back story behind the epic new rock and roll fantasy series.
