Marvel sent Star Wars fans soaring in a Diamond Comics Retailer event during C2E2:
A prequel to a prequel.
The publisher announced a Rogue One three-part limited series and one-shot based on the upcoming spinoff: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming this Fall. No writers or artists were announced.
Gareth Edwards will direct the standalone film starring Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Madds Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk. This is the story of the Rebel fighters who stole the plans for the Empire’s Death Star.
Last year Marvel published Star Wars Shattered Empire, bridging the events between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
The film arrives December 16, 2016.
