We now know the title of the third Wolverine standalone movie.
Director James Mangold tweeted a poster revealing the film is called Logan and will be released March 3, 2017.
Star Hugh Jackman previously said this will be his final appearance as Wolverine.
The poster shows the X-Man with claws popped but holding the hand of a child.
Could this mean Jackman’s last film as Wolverine introduce a younger member of the X-Man’s family from comics?
X-23/Laura Kinney is the clone of Logan raised in a later version of the Weapon X program. Laura eventually found a father figure/mentor in the mutant whose genes led to her creation. In the comics Laura is starring as the All-New Wolverine after Logan died.
Daken aka Ahihiro is Logan’s son he never knew he had from his time in Japan. Winter Soldier killed the child’s mother and Daken was raised into a living weapon by a mysterious feral villain named Romulus, a wolf-like offshoot of the mutant race. Daken has all Logan’s mutant powers plus a pheromone manipulating ability to seduce his victims. The son became obsessed with torturing his father, even taking his code-name and posing as him. The Dark Wolverine headlined his own book and was a member of the Dark Avengers, villains posing as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
With Jackman giving his final appearance producers may be passing the claws to one of Wolverine’s savage offspring and take us into the future revealed in Old Man Logan, where a retired X-Man is a married family man in a wasteland when tragedy makes him go on one last mission.
