Joss Whedon on Batman and the Quicksilver Controversy

Avengers Origins: Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver courtesy Marvel.com

Joss Whedon keeps talking future superhero projects while supporting his new film, Much Ado About Nothing. While at The Film Society of Lincoln Center presents “An Evening with Joss Whedon” the director was asked by Coming Soon which Marvel character he could work on who would it be. The answer was a surprise:

“If I could get my hands on absolutely anybody it would be Batman. (audience applause) He’s a Marvel character in the DC universe.” Audience applause followed!

The director has confirmed Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will appear in his Avengers 2 for Disney. Evan Peters was just cast as Quicksilver in Fox’s X-Men Days of Future Past. The speedster and the Witch are the mutant children of Magneto who later became popular Avengers. When asked about the controversy Whedon said

“That’s not something I can really talk about, but Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are going to be in the movie and they’re going to be AWESOME.”

Thanks to Coming Soon.

Much Ado About Nothing opened the Seattle International Film Festival and opens June 7th.
