Jessica Jones is back in a new ongoing when the Marvel Now arrives.
The wait is over as fan-favorite creator Brian Michael Bendis returns to one of the important characters created during his Marvel reign.
Jones first appeared in the Alias 15 years ago then became a mother, married Luke Cage and returned to her super hero roots in the New Avengers run – all by Bendis.
Jones (played by Krysten Ritter) headlined the second Marvel Netflix series earning awards and a new fan base for the tough heroine.
Bendis reunites with Alias team Michael Gaydos and David Mack for Jessica Jones #1 as the super detective hits the gritty streets of the Marvel Universe following Civil War II.
“I wanted her to live in a part of the Marvel U that the rest of us don’t see every day. And these cases are inspired by many of the stories that we’ve all read, but perhaps we didn’t see the whole picture. If I’ve done my job right, I’m speaking to people who don’t read any other comics, but they can pick up all they need to know and enjoy a good crime story.” Bendis told Marvel.com.
Alias was part of the Marvel Max line for mature readers. When asked about the content of the series Bendis responded:
“I’ll just say it is mature and we won’t be skirting issues.”
Jessica Jones #1 arrives October 5th.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones will return for a second season and Ritter will be part of the cast of Marvel’s Defenders featuring Jones, Cage, Daredevil and Iron Fist.
