GRAYSON vs. KILLER GIRLS

I admit I was apprehensive about Dick Grayson losing the Nightwing identity to become a super spy in the new book Grayson. Only two issues in and I’m enjoying the ride. The former Robin is becoming the ultimate spy with fun, campy influences from some of fiction’s greatest covert operatives.

The world thinks Dick is dead after Forever Evil but he’s working undercover for Batman in the twisted spy organization called Spyral. As Dick deeps deeper to uncover the conspiracy against DC’s costumed heroes, we meet more strange operatives.

Tim Seeley and Tom King appear to be creating a potent cocktail of super hero and various super spy influences. Grayson is Jason Bourne, 1960’s era James Bond and even I feel an influence of The Prisoner and The Avengers. Not Earth’s Mightiest Heroes but the classic British television series.

Case in point: the preview for Grayson #4 coming in November. Dick is the target of the students of the girls school on the grounds of Spyral’s based near London. The girls of Hadrian’s Finishing School are learning to become prim and proper…assassins. The school is taking over the role from Leviathan. As Dick tries to keep track of all the lies, we wonder how far he’s willing to go to play his new role.

Dick has the skills but does he have the guts to be a killer operative.

If the girls of Hadrian’s don’t get him first…Seeley and King seem to building up to a confrontation with Midnighter.

Grayson #4 arrives November 5th.
