We pondered the future of Marvel’s First Family once it was announced the Fantastic Four book will end this April. We believe just because the book and team will end can the beloved members move on, go their separate ways and join other Marvel teams and franchises?
After this week’s Secret Wars Live announcement about the end of the Marvel and Ultimate Universe we couldn’t help but think what if the Fantastic Four survives and evolves?
The Fantastic Four haven’t always been Reed, Susan, Johnny and Ben. There’s been a huge variety of diverse heroes who joined the team.
When they were married Black Panther and Storm became Marvel’s ultimate power couple and joined the Four.
She-Hulk, Luke Cage, Crystal and Medusa of the Inhumans have been members of the team. And let’s not forget Ben Grimm’s girlfriend Sharon Ventura who went by Ms. Marvel and She-Thing was on the squad.
In 1990’s Wolverine, Ghost Rider (the Danny Ketch version), Spider-Man and Hulk (the gray Mr. Fixit version) were recruited by Susan Storm (a Skrull in disguise) to form a New Fantastic Four in a classic four-part story.
In the brave new post-Secret Wars world, maybe it’s time for a four more heroes to carry on the legacy or a new generation led by Franklin or Valeria (and the Future Foundation kids) will be a Young Avengers inspired new Four.
