Negasonic Teenage Warhead?

Say that again?

Deadpool producers have cast newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as a very obscure character from the X-Men comics canon according to The Hollywood Reporter.

So obscure she was only seen alive for moments before she was killed off.

Grant Morrison created Negasonic Teenage Warhead during his New X-Men run. Ellie Phimister (her real name) was a telepath with precognitive abilities studying under Emma Frost in Genosha. Ellie has a vision of the population being exterminated moments before a squadron of “Wild” Sentinels attack the island nation killing six million people on the mutant haven.

Emma survived the assault by her secondary mutation manifesting itself (turning into rock hard diamond.) Ellie was later seen as part of a new Hellfire Club during Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men run. It was later revealed that Ellie and his new villain team were projections of Emma’s mind and survivor’s guilt.

Kitty Pryde said, “Wow, we really have run out of names,” after hearing Ellie’s codename.

This is just speculation but with Wade Wilson’s globe-trotting and Ellie’s background, could this mean X-Men producers are introducing Genosha into the film series? Genosha is an island nation off Africa where mutants were enslaved until the X-Men led a revolution and it became a haven for mutants until the Sentinel attack.

Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Marina Baccarin as Vanessa – who we assume is Copycat, Gina Carrano as Angel Dust and T.J. Miller and is scheduled for February 2016.
