One word has great power and we’re not talking about “Shazam!”

DC Comics Co-Publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee tweeted the image of a blue curtain and #Rebirth stirring a universe of speculation.

Rebirth is a familiar theme in the return of fan-favorites. Flash: Rebirth and Green Lantern: Rebirth were both by now DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.

Could DC be planning a major reboot, refresh or rebrand timed to follow Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which sets the stage for future DC Films?

DC launched The New 52 Continuity in 2011 to acclaim and success. Those surviving titles are reaching the 50 issue and beyond mark.

All DC titles took a two month break last year as Convergence brought pre and post New 52 heroes together while DC Comics relocated to the West Coast to align with the film group.

Several new books launched after Convergence along with creative team shifts and big changes to DC’s major icons. Superman’s secret identity was exposed, he lost his powers and switched to a simpler look of jeans and a t-shirt. Bruce Wayne lost his memory and Jim Gordon became the new high-tech Batman. Wonder Woman’s new creative team gave her a new uniform and introduced Donna Troy as a major new adversary.

Kal El will regain his full power in Superman and Bruce Wayne becomes Batman again in the 50th issues in March. Justice League: Darkseid War wraps up in April.  Fans have speculate “when” the Darkseid War epic takes place since it includes Bruce Wayne as Batman and Kal El as Superman. This arc could signal the end of the New 52. Justice League #1 introduced the team and their first villain was Darkseid and the Darkseid War was hinted thoughout the years. This finale of the Darkseid/Anti-Monitor conflict could be a perfect continuity finale and time for a rebirth.

Could the return of the true Superman and Batman, the of a major Justice League arc against their greatest enemy lead the way to a new DC Universe more inspired by DC Films, or a relaunch with all new number one issues?

No official word from DC Entertainment yet but stay tuned.

Would you a complete reboot, return of pre-New 52 continuity or a evolving of the current timeline?
