Morena Baccarin is a shining sci-fi star among a galaxy of celebrity guests appearing at Fan Expo Vancouver this weekend. Fans packed a ballroom Friday evening for the chance to ask questions with Baccarin and lined up today for autographs and to express their endless devotion to Firefly.

 

After Firefly the series and Serenity the movie Baccarin went on to roles on V, Stargate S.G. One and the acclaimed drama Homeland. After playing the heroine Inara she left the Firefly ship to invade Earth as the evil Anna on V.  I asked if the shift to the dark side of sci-fi was on purpose. Pacific Northwest cosplayers help make Emerald City Comicon such a geek-tacular experience.

 

The Seattle celebration always marks a reunion with new friends you see online and in person (often in costume) at the con. As big at ECCC is growing you can still run into your favorite cosplayers, collectors and fellow fans.

CHARLES SOULE on INHUMAN at ECCC

Charles Soule is one of the busiest writers in comics and busiest guests at Emerald City Comicon this weekend. With Superman/Wonder Woman, Red Lanterns, Swamp Thing for DC and Thunderbolts, She-Hulk for Marvel Soule was on multiple panels answering fan questions.

 

Inhuman #1 is the big Marvel book on this fan’s brain. Soule teams up with artist Joe Madureira for a brand new title that stars classic characters like Black Bolt and Medusa while introducing all-new heroes and villains born as a result of the terrigen bomb detonation in Infinity.

Alexander’s Marvelous Make-A-Wish Day

Alexander is small but courageous with mighty dreams. The six-year-old boy from Everett, Washington lives with cystic fibrosis. Alexander fights this life threatening condition but for one day he had an adventure to take his mind of his illness.

 

Alexander got a hero’s salute this weekend thanks to Make-A-Wish volunteers and members of Comic Book Characters For Causes. Emerald City Comicon 2014 is just one week away. The celebration in Seattle grew like the Hulk and for the first time – is completely sold out. Karen Gillan, Karl Urban, Stephen Amell, Ron Perlman, Richard Dean Anderson and Nichelle Nichols are just some of the stars fans can meet in panels, photo and autograph opportunities. Dark Horse announces revealed four variant covers exclusively for Seattle’s Emerald City Comicon.

 

Dark Horse is celebrating the launch of several new series with Emerald City variants for Serenity #1, Buffy #1, Veil #1, and a very special variant of Witcher #1.
