Big Screen Dreams for Captain America Movies

While Marvel and Disney negotiate the future of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man the future of Captain America is clear. Chris Evans revealed to Collider he has a 6-film deal with Marvel. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is underway and scheduled for April 2014. The First Avenger will definitely appear in Avengers 2 and 3 but what other Marvel films could include Steve Rogers and what classic tales could be the inspiration for these big screen dreams:

Civil War I would love to see Joss Whedon take the Mark Millar epic as inspiration for the next big screen adventure of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. A showdown between rookie heroes and hard-core villains leads to the death of innocent bystanders leading to the government’s superhero registration act. Steve and Tony take opposite sides. The conflict shook core friendships among Marvel heroes and created incredible drama. I would love to see Downey and Evans play out this epic struggle between friends on the big screen.

The Death of Captain America by Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting (The Winter Soldier) follows Civil War. Steve takes a stand and looses. Imagine Cap shot and killed while in handcuffs! Cap’s friends and allies struggle after Steve is killed and a fallen hero rises to become the new Captain America. Steve’s journey back from the great beyond is an epic tale too.

Captain America No More by the late, great Mark Gruenwald in which Steve is ousted as Captain America by his own government (by the manipulations of the Red Skull) and an extremist becomes the new Star-Spangled Avenger. Steve must fight to stop the Red Skull, his unworthy replacement and keep faith in the government that betrayed him.
