The pop-up store appears like X-Man Nightcrawler bamfing into action. It’s not just for clothing anymore.
Just like the Scarlet Speedster, “Flash retailing” comes to give geeks quick and cheap deals courtesy of Zanadu Comics. The veteran Seattle store now has the Li’l Z Sidekick Store just a space over with big discounts in a small space.
The Sidekick Store is open now through July 3rd Wednesdays to Sundays and by appointment. Featuring $1.00 comics by the pound, and discounts as high as 90%, this is a chance for the hardcover or new comics lover to grab old school issues, trades plus manga and even “needle in a haystack” items you never knew you even wanted until you see them…and must have them!
I found a James Bond girls action figure still in the packaging from 1973’s Live and Let Die based on Solitaire as played by Jane Seymour in Roger Moore’s first 007 movie. Who knew?
Owner Perry Plush continues to embrace new ways to reach comics fans with a weekly YouTube video: Comics Should Smell Good!!! featuring new comics with more weekly videos on the way. Along with social media there’s still good old fashioned talking about comics in the store with “Confessions From the Long Table” a fan discussion group held at the store after business hours. You may even find a popular comics writer, artist, indie rising star or maybe even a television star (Cory Michael Smith of Gotham) in the shop to surprise shoppers.
After being in business since 1975 Plush is the proud papa of this Li’l Z Sidekick Store with new items added daily and more ways to “enter their world of pure imagination.”
