The world is waiting to see Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight under the direction of Zack Snyder. The shadow of Christian Bale’s performance is Christopher Nolan’s trilogy looms large after what many fans consider a perfect ending for the hero. Now an even darker Knight will emerge to challenge Superman.
Snyder directed and Nolan produced Man of Steel. Snyder reveals he turned to Nolan about his plans for the Superman follow-up which became Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
According to Snyder he asked Nolan for his blessing for taking on Batman and making him Superman’s antagonist.
“You tell me if you don’t want me to do it,” Snyder told Nolan. After a moment, Nolan said, “Well, we don’t own these characters. When you’re done making Batman movies, someone else will [make them].” Snyder told Empire online.
“I think he found it a little bit hard,” Snyder continues. “I would feel the same way.”
Batman was last seen on screen in 2012 in Nolan’s finale The Dark Knight Rises, in which the hero appeared to retire from his crusade.
