Director Bryan Singer is filming X-Men: Apocalypse now in Montreal. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicolas Hoult from First Class and Days of Future Past return for the cinematic showdown with an ancient enemy.
The sequel is set in the 1980’s with new actors playing younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm, Scott Summers, Nightcrawler and Angel or is it Archangel if you go by this preview art?
Producer Simon Kinberg explains these are not cameos but part of the larger story.
“They’re as much a part of the movie as our main cast,”
Kinberg told Empire. “Scott is not yet the squeaky-clean leader. Storm is
a troubled character who is going down the wrong path in life. And Jean is complex, interesting and not fully mature. It’s fun to see someone struggling with their powers when you know one day they’ll become the most powerful person in the world.”
Jubilee and Psylocke will appear in the film.
Kinberg and Singer shared new production art and more in a new with Empire out on April 20th.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 2016.
