A classic X-villain emerges in the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now. Jeff Lemire and Humberto Ramos unleash Mister Sinister who steals the cover spotlight in this week’s Extraordinary X-Men #4.

The scientist once known as Nathaniel Essex is back.

Sinister strikes just as the mutants are facing a horrific new threat. The Inhumans’ Terrigen Cloud is killing and sterilizing mutants. The mutant race is on the road to extinction again. Is Sinister here to speed up the process?

The Sinister resurgence makes us look back at the villain’s three most infamous crimes:

Victorian Vengeance! Sinister merged with the Dreaming Celestial and turned the population of San Francisco into his doppelgangers resembling himself in the Victorian England era. His plot was to incite the Celestials to get them to wipe out life on Earth in order for him to rebuild his own Sinister society.

The Manipulation of Cyclops and Jean Grey! Sinister manipulated Scott Summers since childhood even creating Madelyne Pryor to be his bride. Pryor was a clone of Jean Grey who gave birth to Nathan, who grew up to be Cable. Sinister and a possessed Madelyn (now known as the Goblin Queen) unleashed hell on Earth with a demon invasion during Inferno.

Mutant Massacre! Sinister unleashed the Marauders to slaughter the Morlocks, a reclusive, mostly peaceful mutant community living under New York City. Sinister considered the clan of mutants mistakes to be wiped out. Morlocks were brutally killed and several X-Men were painfully take out of commission. Sinister is the architect of the infamous act of hate and evil in X-Men history.

Why is Sinister back? The mutants have been his favorite target of schemes and manipulations – is it possible the master of genetics may have the key to protecting mutants from the Terrigen Mists?
