X-Men’s Magik Touch

She was once called a “little snowflake” but that reputation has been burned away and you could call Illyana Rasputin a devil child! Magik is one of the few mutant teleporters alive and she’s a mistress of the demonic arts – that makes her a powerful ally of Cyclops’s team but a dangerous wild card!

Brian Michael Bendis and Chris Bachalo will unleash Magik in Uncanny X-Men #1. Bendis tells Marvel.com why Scott wants Illyana on his revolution team:

“She was part of the Phoenix Five and they were all sucked into each other’s brains during that. Cyclops lost friends, a lover, and a lot of things during the Phoenix situation. I think he wants her close, I think she’s very useful and she’s one of the last things he gets to hold on to from his glory days. If Colossus ever comes back, he thinks that having her there would be a benefit. Cyclops doesn’t know about all the bad things that happened between the two of them. That will reveal itself down the line. There’s a lot of power being used by Magik, and that comes with a price. The price will reveal itself and not too long from now.”

Bendis explains the state of the former New Mutant, her powers and gives an ominous prediction.

“Here is what’s going on with Magik: her powers are also damaged, due to what happened during Avengers Vs. X-Men. Except with her, it seems to have been for the better. She’s become a more powerful mutant. She has an expertise that she did not have before. She has access to limbo energies that she did not have before. Things are moving at such a fast clip that she’s not looking into how this happened or why this is happening. There will be a price to pay for what she’s doing and why she’s doing it.”

Remember there is a traitor in Scott’s team! With Magik’s history of shifting alliances she could be the one who betrays the new Uncanny X-Men! Issue One arrives next week!
