And this was just the prelude!?!
Marvel has been teasing The Hellfire Saga coming in June. This week Jason Aaron set the stage for a battle royale between the Jean Grey School and the Hellfire Academy in an action and surprise packed Wolverine and the X-Men #30.
I LOVED Broo from his first appearance in this series. The mutant alien had control over his sadistic urges and was a brilliant, eloquent nerd. I felt sick when he was shot point blank and turned into a feral savage like his alien brethren. (Do Brood even have a concept of family?)
The newly mutated Beast turns to a new foe (imagine Dr. Hannibal Lecter as a geneticist) recently introduced in the series for help in restoring Broo back into that toothy, spectacle wearing geek we once loved.
Back at the school Storm, Kitty and the staff are trying to understand why two of their students have left for the Hellfire Club’s new school. Quentin Quire is conducting his own psychic investigation which sheds new light on the Bamfs creeping about the school. Staff and students soon learn of a traitor working against them for the Hellfire Club!
(Imagine dramatic musical flourishes after each!)
Shocking betrayals!
True motivations revealed!
Major comebacks!
Plots within plots executed!
A frightening new villain introduced!
This issue has it all! The mutant soap opera that is Wolverine and the X-Men is set for a thrilling and twisted new arc and this joyride starring Logan’s kids keeps getting better with age.
