Marvel makes it clear: the X-Men are staying in the Marvel universe.

Editor in Chief Axel Alonso clarified via Twitter:

“Relax, folks. Everything ends with #SecretWars, but the #X-Men will remain an integral part of the Marvel Universe.”

The tweet follows an earlier comment:

“The X-Men office is taking the opportunity of ‘Secret Wars’ to build an entire new world for the characters — to create a shared universe within the X-books that’s set off by a huge event/incident/surprise,” Alonso said. “At that point, they’re going to introduce a new team that feels unlike anything you’ve seen before. It’ll be… ‘extraordinary.'” Alsonso said on Comic Book Resources.

The big question is who will become the X-Men flagship writer after Brian Bendis wraps up his run with Uncanny X-Men #600?

There are multiple Secret Wars tie-in books for fans of every era from House of M, Age of Apocalypse and even the 1992 animated series but we’re waiting to see who will lead the mutants in the aftermath of Secret Wars.
