X-Factor X-Pectations!

Marvel has announced The End of X-Factor is coming. Acclaimed writer Peter David will wrap up his incredible run with the misfit mutant detectives and already has a Marvel project in the works but it’s still top secret.

What will happen to the beloved cast of X-Factor Investigations? Time will tell but here are my hopes and dreams for the team.

Jamie Madrox & Layla Miller: Will the star-crossed, time-crossed lovers of X-Factor have a happy ending? Haven’t all those tragic twists keeping them apart been part of the enjoyment of devouring every issue? What if Rick Remender recruited Jamie for his Uncanny Avengers?

Rhane Sinclair (Wolfsbane) and Werewolf by Night are off raising Rhane’s child. I say give them some peace for a while until it’s time for a New Mutants reunion! Maybe Rhane could appear in an arc of Fearless Defenders with her teammate Dani Moonstar?

Theresa Cassidy (Banshee) will unleash her sonic scream if she learns the Apocalypse Twins are resurrecting her father to be a Horseman of Death! Theresa has come so far and assumed her father’s code name. I’d like to see Rick Remender use her in Uncanny Avengers in the fight against Kang, The Apocalypse Twins or I’d love to see Marjorie Liu use her in Astonishing X-Men.

Monet St. Croix: Two words: Fearless Defenders! I’m talking to you Cullen Bunn and Ellie Pyle! (Please?)

Polaris: You might expect that I would want Lorna back with Alex on Uncanny Avengers but I say enough is enough. Lorna has been torn, twisted and tormented because of her love of Alex and ties to Magneto. Let Lorna join the Guardians of the Galaxy and find deep space romance with Tony Stark! Ed Brubaker and Mike Carey used Polaris effectively in their deep space epics against the Shi’ar. I think Polaris would leave Earth, Havok and Magneto behind and develop some magnetism with Iron Man.

Rictor & Shatterstar: David earned well-deserved GLAAD Media Awards for his portrayals of X-Factor’s romantic gay duo. I support a ComicsBlend.com reader’s suggestion (thanks Cutler!) to have Julio and Shatterstar join a team of other GLBT mutant heroes (Northstar, Karma, Anole) to fight for equality on all levels.

X-Factor 259Longshot: Not I know I’m going to get grief but I’ve always thought Longshot would make a great Avenger. Looks at all this skills! I’ve been a huge fan of this character since the original series by Ann Nocenti and Art Adams. So if he doesn’t cut it with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, I’d love to see Longshot rekindle his romance with Dazzler, hook up with Lila Cheney and Guido and tour the galaxy. David will reveal the Longshot/Shatterstar connection in the final issues of X-Factor.

Strong Guy: I hope Guido gets his soul and sense of humor back and (see above) have him go on a interstellar tour as manager of Dazzler and Lila. I’ll never forget how much I howled when Guido said I’m the Strong Guy on the team – and a code name was born.

I hope we will learn Peter David’s next project soon – comics wouldn’t be the same without him writing!

I think Lorna belongs on the all-female X-Men team. She’s a classic X-Woman and should be in this group (instead of Jubilee, in my opinion).
