DC Comics revealed the new creative team on the most iconic woman in comics and it’s a family affair just as Wonder Woman prepares her march to the big screen.
Husband and wife team Meredith and David Finch will be writer and artist on Wonder Woman starting with issue 36 first revealed in USA Today. Finch and Finch follow Brian Azzerello and Cliff Chiang’s acclaimed run who relaunched the Amazon into The New 52 continuity.
The story says the new team will veer from Diana’s connection to Greek mythology to more about her relationships with members of the Justice League and the Amazons.
“A big part of what Meredith wants to do is write a story about a woman who is trying to take on all of those different things and try to make them all work together,” David Finch tells USA Today. “We wanted to make her a little more flawed. She doesn’t always necessarily have the answers.”
Longtime fans should note Meredith Finch says the television series starring Lynda Carter was her first exposure to superheroes.
“You had the mom roles but you didn’t really have big heroic women saving the day back in the ’70s,” Meredith says. “Women were just transitioning into the workforce, and because of that she’s been taken on as an icon for feminine power and empowerment.”

The new team and direction for Wonder Woman begins in November. This is David Finch’s next big project following the Forever Evil event and Meredith’s first project for DC.
