The casting of Gal Gabot as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Superman vs. Batman sequel to Man of Steel inspired an explosion from fans over the internet. The Israeli actress from the Fast and Furious franchise steps into the role of the most famous woman in comic books in her big screen debut.

Here’s what I’m hoping for from the film now starring DC Comics Big Three:

She’s Diana – like Man of Steel and Batman Begins I want to see Gabot as the Amazon Warrior who evolves into or is ready to become Wonder Woman by the end of  the movie (and spin off into her own film!) Maybe we don’t even see Diana in the iconic costume until the end?

Wonder Woman fights for justice, love, peace AND sexual equality. I do NOT want to see Batman or Superman saving her. She’s an equal and in some ways superior. I think Diana could be the moral compass between polar opposites: Clark and Bruce.

Romantic Tension – I’d love to see a scrappier Lois Lane (Amy Adams) in a frenemy competition with Diana for the attention of Kal-El. The New 52 romance between Superman and Woman makes for great story potential. I still think Wonder Woman can be part of a romantic triangle while still being a strong woman and feminist icon. A potential Clark/Diana union could raise the tension with Batman who always looks for the threat level even from his allies.

There’s trouble on Paradise Island…after seeing the recreation of Krypton in Man of Steel, I’m eager to Themyscira (aka Paradise Island.) What if while Batman and Superman are fighting each other, an otherworldly threat attacks the Amazons sending Diana out to warn the world of the threat from…

Darkseid – the cosmic tyrant from planet Apokolips is the ultimate big bad. His legendary evil could be woven into the history of the Amazons and even Krypton. I see Lex Luthor as the main villain of this movie orchestrating the conflict between Bruce and Clark while searching for the a mysterious power source (Mother Box?) that would unlock the dimension and bring Darkseid to Earth, and there’s your Justice League movie!

Warner Brothers and DC Comics are starting with the Big Three – the perfect foundation for the founding of the Justice League. With a strong union of Diana, Bruce and Clark you can rip them apart in a Justice League movie with the threat of Maxwell Lord from the OMAC Project storyline by Greg Rucka…but that’s getting way ahead of myself.
