New arc, new direction and a costume for the Queen of the Amazons in Wonder Woman #41 this week. It’s the latest new look for a major DC icon in this month of relaunches and new titles.

While the Man of Steel is powered down, more casual and showing more skin and a new man is under armor as a new Batman – Wonder Woman is armored and more covered up than ever.

Watch for the debut of a new villain debuts in this week’s new issue by creative team Meredith and David Finch.

Who is the enemy that “…may be new to us, but not new to the world he seeks to tame” while Diana must contend with Donna Troy’s plot to destroy her. Meredith and David Finch introduced the onetime Wonder Girl as a formidable rival and started a war among the Amazons.

Here’s the official description:

“A daring new direction begins with the arrival of a brand-new villain! But while he may be new to us, he’s not new to the world he seeks to tame. And speaking of villains, Donna Troy’s quest to destroy Wonder Woman ratchets up another gear (if that’s even possible!), while the games of the Gods bring dark portents to the ultimate Amazon!”

Wonder Woman’s uniform evolved from skirts to pant suits to leather jackets and she’s switched from gold to silver tiaras.

But now less skin, more armor and more weapons. Diana is sporting a bodysuit under her armor and her bullet deflecting wristbands have been upgraded to include blades. Are they retractable?

Diana in her new look also appears in Superman/Wonder Woman #18 this week. It’s the next chapter in the Superman crossover story called Truth.
