J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman are leaving Batwoman after issue 26 scheduled for December.

The duo cite “eleventh-hour” editorial changes including the origin of Killer Croc and apparent prohibition against the marriage of Kate Kane and Maggie Sawyer.

Kane proposed to the Gotham City police detective in Batwoman #17.

You can read it in Blackman’s own words on his website.

DC Comics told Comic Book Resources:

“As acknowledged by the creators involved, the editorial differences with the writers of ‘Batwoman’ had nothing to do with the sexual orientation of the character.”

Batwoman has won and been nominated for GLAAD Media Awards and the only lesbian character in the lead role of a comic book from a major publisher.
